I think that after the collapse on Wall Street, people realized that this really does affect them — no matter where they are in the country. Because GM is following this wave, people are paying more attention to it. You see it everywhere from the NYT to community newspapers. GM is also doing a great job disseminating information about how this will affect everyone from Wall Street to Main Street and everywhere in between, but this corporate jet debacle is an unfortunate setback to their communications strategy during this crisis.

I actually don’t know if most people, outside of Michiganders, believe in the bailout. Including Michigan’s beloved Mitt himself. But there is NO reason anyone should make $20 million a year, or have a corporate jet, unless they’re afraid someone will outright assassinate Rick Wagoner? I suppose that’s a real fear, especially these days.
